Course: | Bachelor of Environmental Health |
Description: | Bachelor of Environmental Health equipts students in becoming Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) and ebables them to apply their skills to identify, assess and manage various risks to human health. They are able to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of control measures in order to make necessary improvements. In addition they will be able to apply research skills and interpret and apply legislation, regulations and policies related to environmental health and to advise/ educate role players on specific issues within their scope of practice, bachelors in the NSC qualification |
Requirements: | • Minimum statutory NSC requirements for degree entry must be met. • English, Afrikaans or isiXhosa (home language or first additional language) on at least a level 3 (40–49%). • Mathematics 4 (50-59%) • Physical Sciences 4 (50-59%) • Life Science 4 (50-59%) |
Job Opportunities: | The Environmental Health Practitioner will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Graduates can be employed not only in the public sector as EHPs (in the national, provincial and local government departments) but also in the private sector as SHEQ and HACCP specialists (e.g. in the motor manufacturing, food and beverage, and engineering and construction industries). |
