Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) invites unemployed graduates to apply for Graduate Internship Programme 2025.

Are you a recent graduate eager to break into the film and television industry? The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) is offering an incredible opportunity for young professionals looking to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in a variety of fields within the film industry. The GFC, a non-profit company under the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation (DSACR), is dedicated to the development, promotion, and coordination of the film and television production sector in Gauteng. As part of its ongoing efforts to build the industry and position the province as a global filmmaking hub, the GFC is inviting applications for its 2025 Graduate Internship Programme.

The Gauteng Film Commission plays a crucial role in positioning the province of Gauteng as a world-class destination for filmmaking, while also attracting local and international investment in the film and television industry. This non-profit entity works to develop the sector by supporting aspiring filmmakers, promoting local talent, and providing the necessary resources to cultivate a thriving creative industry.

Available Internship Opportunities

The GFC invites dynamic and suitably qualified graduates to apply for the following internship opportunities:

1. Internship: General Office Administration
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Human Resource Management, Public Management, BCom Finance, Cost Management Accounting, Auditing, etc.
2. Internship: Projects and Permits Administration
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Business Administration, Visual Arts, Film and TV Production, Motion Picture, etc.
3. Internship: Marketing and Communications
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Marketing and Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, etc.
4. Internship: Film and TV Production
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Film Production, Majoring in Film Producing, with modules in Scriptwriting, Editing, and/or Cinematography.
5. Internship: Script Writing and Management
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Film or Media-related studies, BA Degree in Film Production, specializing in Scriptwriting, Creative Writing, or Media Writing.
6. Internship: Film and TV Production Directing
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Film Production or Cinema Studies, Majoring in Arts Management and/or Applied Film and Television Studies.
7. Internship: Camera Operation
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Film Production, Majoring in Story Structure, Lighting, Camera, and/or Editing.
8. Internship: Technical Work (Gaffer, Best Boy)
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Film/Media Studies or BA Degree in Film Production, specializing in Camera Operation and Lighting.
9. Internship: Virtual Work/Operations (Make-up, Wardrobe, Production Set Design)
   • Qualifications: 3 Year National Diploma or Degree in Film/Media Studies or BA Degree in Film Production.

Selection Criteria

To be eligible for the GFC Graduate Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12) or any equivalent qualification.
• Tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) at a minimum NQF Level 6. (Note: TVET graduates must have completed their Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and obtained their diploma.)
• Must be unemployed and available for the full duration of the internship.
• Applicants should be no older than 35 years of age.
• Must be a South African citizen.
• No prior participation in any GFC internship programme.

Interested candidates are required to submit the following documents as part of their application:

• A comprehensive CV (in PDF or MS Word format).
• Certified copies of qualifications.
• Certified copy of ID (in PDF format).

Important Note: Certified copies must not be older than six (6) months.

Applications must clearly state the internship they are applying for in the subject line of the email (e.g., Internship: General Office Administration). If you’re applying for internships in multiple sub-fields, you must submit a separate application for each position.
