Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) invites South African unemployed graduates to apply for 24 months Internship Programme 2024 / 2025.

This 24-month internship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a supportive, professional environment. Below are the details of the available positions:

1. INTERN: Human Resources & Training

The Intern: HR & Training will assist in the efficient administration and coordination of HR and training-related projects. This role reports directly to the Assistant Manager: Human Resources and Training.

Key Performance Areas:

• Support the implementation of HR generalist practices and administrative tasks.
• Get involved in employee relations, employee wellness, skills development, and performance management processes.
• Assist in recruitment and selection processes such as job advertising, interviews, and qualification verification.
• Support the implementation of employee benefits such as leave management, relocation, and injury-on-duty processing.
• Assist in developing training plans, preparing training reports, and ensuring timely submission of these reports.

2. INTERN: Outreach & Communications

The Intern: Outreach & Communications will support the development and execution of the provincial Communications Strategy, assist in stakeholder management, and conduct vital research related to IEC activities. The intern will report to the Assistant Manager: Outreach.

Key Performance Areas:

• Contribute to the development of the provincial communication strategy and plans, focusing on promoting election participation.
• Promote democracy education and increase awareness of the IEC’s brand.
• Assist in developing media strategies aimed at youth engagement across the province.
• Manage communication efforts, both internal and external, and liaise with media stakeholders.
• Help in the development of publicity campaigns and monitor the progress of communication initiatives.
• Conduct research on electoral processes, socio-economic conditions affecting democracy, and internal operations from past elections.
• Assist with Outreach and Civic & Democracy Education activities.
